Manchester United are reportedly set to fine defender Lisandro Martínez following his outspoken comments about the club, its directors and its management after the defeat against Atlético Madrid.
According to The Athletic, sources within the club consider it “inevitable” that Martínez will face a financial sanction over his behaviour, with disciplinary action expected to follow.
Martínez reportedly criticised the club’s leadership, expressing disappointment with the directors and their handling of the team’s affairs.
The Argentine defender also questioned the level of support given to Michael Carrick during the summer transfer window, insisting that the manager was not adequately backed.
The reported comments have raised concerns within the club, with a potential fine expected as Manchester United considers its response to the defender’s remarks.
However, the club has yet to publicly confirm any disciplinary action against Martínez.
