Nigerian gospel singer Sola Adeshina has paid an emotional tribute to fellow gospel music minister Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, expressing shock and disbelief over his reported death.
Adeshina, who recalled seeing Toluwanisings at her concert on Sunday, said she was struggling to come to terms with the news of his death, noting that they had exchanged messages as recently as Monday.
In an emotional tribute, the singer described the loss as painful and difficult to comprehend, recalling how Toluwanisings had shown up at her concert and shared beautiful moments with them.
“You were still at my concert on Sunday. You showed up for me, you spent beautiful moments with us, we saw each other, and I was so happy to have you there,” she said.
Adeshina added that she had taken time to appreciate him for attending the event and that he responded to her message the following day.
Expressing disbelief over how quickly events had unfolded, she questioned how their recent interaction could have been followed by news of his death.
“Omo, how did we go from talking on Monday to hearing that you’re gone? How? Just how? This is not making sense to me at all,” she lamented.
Reflecting on the uncertainty of life, Adeshina said people often make plans, share moments and communicate with one another without knowing when they might be meeting for the last time.
She described Toluwanisings’ death as a particularly painful loss, adding that she struggled to find the right words to express her grief.
“My heart is so heavy. May God comfort everyone you left behind, because this kind of pain is not easy to explain,” she said.
Despite her grief, Adeshina reaffirmed her faith in God, acknowledging that although the circumstances were difficult to understand, she continued to trust in Him.
“Unquestionable God. Even when we don’t understand, You are still God. But Jesus, this one hurts so much,” she added.
Toluwanisings, a Nigerian gospel music minister, songwriter and worship leader, reportedly died on Wednesday after slumping on a staircase.
His reported death has triggered an outpouring of grief among colleagues, fans and members of the gospel music community, with tributes highlighting his contributions to gospel music and worship.
