Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has denied any link with a group that released a response video following comments by the Executive Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Otunba Kehinde Adeola Al-Maroof-Oloyede, also known as Kendoo.
Akinsanya, President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), made the clarification in signed statement responding to press releases and video statements attributed to the council chairman.
He said the video recorded and published by Al-Maroof-Oloyede during a trip to China had generated reactions from transport workers and party stakeholders who believed they were directly referenced in his remarks.
According to Akinsanya, he had no connection with the individuals who subsequently released a response video.
“I wish to state categorically and unequivocally that I have no relationship with the said group, whether personal, political, or by proxy. I did not authorize them, I did not sponsor them, and I do not know them,” he said.
The NURTW president accused the council chairman of dragging his name into the controversy without evidence, alleging that the move was intended to discredit him.
“The aim of the Council Chairman is to blackmail me, pull me down, and forcefully drag me into a picture where I do not belong,” Akinsanya stated.
He also claimed that the individuals behind the response video had publicly said they had never met him and had no connection with him. He cited a Facebook post attributed to one of the chairman’s allies in support of his position.
However, the claims have not been independently verified.
Akinsanya backed the chairman’s reported call for security agencies to investigate the controversy, urging them to examine both videos and make their findings public.
“I support this call wholeheartedly. I therefore call for a thorough, independent, and transparent investigation into both videos his video from China and the response video and urge that the findings be made public,” he said.
He also challenged Al-Maroof-Oloyede to produce credible evidence linking him to the group or its video.
The statement also addressed the council chairman’s reported plan to procure 300 tricycles for a community transportation scheme in Oshodi-Isolo.
Akinsanya said he had no objection to the initiative but expressed concern over the chairman’s reported declaration that NURTW officials, including those associated with him, would be barred from imposing levies on the tricycles.
“I have no problem with the procurement of tricycles for the people of Oshodi-Isolo,” he said, while expressing opposition to the reported restriction on union officials collecting levies from the vehicles.
The statement did not provide further details about the proposed tricycle scheme or the specific levies under discussion.
Akinsanya concluded by assuring residents of Oshodi-Isolo, Lagos State, and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of his commitment to peace and party unity.
“I remain fully committed to peace, order, and the unity of our great party. I have outgrown tantrums and I will not be distracted by baseless allegations,” he said.
