An angry mob has reportedly set a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) bus ablaze following a fatal collision involving a motorcyclist at Ogolonto bus stop in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
The incident reportedly occurred on Friday, October 16, 2026, after the motorcyclist was allegedly hit by the BRT bus while riding along the BRT corridor.
According to eyewitness accounts circulating online, the collision resulted in the motorcyclist’s death, prompting angry youths at the scene to attack the bus driver and set the vehicle on fire.
Police officers and officials of the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC) reportedly intervened to rescue the driver from the mob.
The driver was said to have escaped unharmed, while preliminary accounts indicated that the motorcyclist was riding alone at the time of the incident.
However, the circumstances surrounding the collision, the identity of the deceased and whether any arrests had been made remained unclear as of the time of filing this report.
The incident comes amid previous reports of fatal road crashes involving BRT buses and motorcycles in the Ikorodu corridor.
In October 2018, it was reported that a motorcyclist died after a collision with a BRT bus in the Agric area of Ikorodu. In August 2019, another crash involving a truck and a BRT bus at Ogolonto claimed three lives and left dozens injured.
