Nollywood actor and filmmaker Adunni Ade has announced the death of her mother following a long battle with illness.
Ade disclosed the sad news in a post on her Instagram page, expressing grief over the loss and praying for Allah to grant her mother eternal rest.
In the post, she wrote: “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. Indeed, to Allah we belong, and to Him we shall return.”
The actress said her mother passed away on October 18, adding that the loss came with a heavy heart as she submitted to the will of Almighty Allah.
“With a heavy heart and humble submission to the will of Almighty Allah, I announce the passing of my beloved mother, who returned to her Creator on October 18 after a long battle with illness,” she wrote.
Ade said her mother is survived by her children, grandchildren, sisters and other loved ones who will continue to cherish her memory.
She also prayed for Allah’s mercy upon the deceased, asking that her shortcomings be forgiven, her grave be filled with light, and she be granted Jannatul Firdaus.
“Ya Allah, forgive her shortcomings, have mercy upon her, make her grave spacious and fill it with light, and grant her Jannatul Firdaus. Grant us sabr (patience) and strength as we navigate this painful loss. Ameen,” she added.
The actress said details of the funeral arrangements would be communicated in due course.
Paying an emotional tribute to her mother, Ade wrote: “Mum, I love you, and you will forever remain in my heart. May Allah grant you eternal peace and reunite us in Jannah. Ameen.”
