A tanker caught fire under the Otedola Bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Lagos on Monday, prompting the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) to deploy its emergency response team to the scene.
LASEMA spokesperson, Olawale Afolabi, confirmed the incident in a brief message sent to journalists, saying the agency received a distress report at about 4:24 p.m.
According to Afolabi, the agency dispatched its Tiger Response Team to the location to respond to the emergency.
“Tiger team en route to Otedola. Tanker on fire,” he stated.
The incident raised concerns about traffic disruption and the potential danger to motorists and other road users along the busy expressway.
However, details regarding the cause of the fire, the type of tanker involved, possible casualties and the extent of damage were not immediately available at the time of reporting.
LASEMA’s response and any subsequent updates from other emergency agencies are expected to provide further information about the incident.
LAGOS EYE NEWS will continue to monitor the situation and update this report as more verified details emerge.
