The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Mr Cornelius Ojelabi, has urged Lagosians to protect the achievements recorded by successive administrations of the party, declaring that continuity remains essential to the state’s development.

Ojelabi made the call on Friday during the unveiling of the manifesto and campaign theme of the APC’s 2027 governorship candidate, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, popularly known as K-O-H, at Igamu, Lagos.

He described the manifesto unveiling as more than the presentation of a policy document, saying it represented a declaration of purpose and a roadmap for the future of Lagos State.

According to him, the manifesto serves as a covenant between the party, its candidate and the electorate, with a commitment to translating political promises into tangible results.

The APC chairman said the party was proud of its achievements in Lagos, citing the administrations of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former governors Babatunde Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode, and the incumbent governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

He listed infrastructure, transportation, education, healthcare, housing, technology and economic development as some of the sectors in which successive APC administrations had recorded progress.

However, Ojelabi acknowledged that the demands of a rapidly expanding megacity required continuous innovation, improved service delivery and fresh approaches to governance.

“Our position is clear: Lagos must move forward, not backward. Continuity must not mean complacency. Rather, it must mean building on proven achievements, addressing identified shortcomings and pursuing greater progress with renewed determination,” he said.

He expressed confidence in Hamzat’s ability to lead the state, pointing to his private-sector experience, public-service background and tenure as Deputy Governor of Lagos State.

Ojelabi said these experiences had provided Hamzat with an understanding of the state’s governance structure and the challenges associated with managing a modern megacity.

He also called on party members, stakeholders and supporters to remain united, disciplined and focused as the APC takes its campaign message to wards, local governments and communities across the state.

“The task before us is to protect the gains of the past, address the challenges of the present and prepare Lagos for the opportunities of the future,” he stated.

Ojelabi added that the APC was presenting Lagosians with a leadership proposition centred on experience, continuity, innovation and further development.

He urged party members to work collectively towards consolidating the achievements of previous administrations and advancing the state’s development agenda.

“The APC has a record to defend, a vision to advance and a future to secure, with Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat as our candidate,” he said.
