The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has disowned a fake notice of elections for 2025 currently circulating on social media and various online platforms.

In a statement signed by the Chairman of the Commission, Hon. Justice Bola Okikiolu-Ighile (rtd), LASIEC categorically stated that the purported notice did not originate from the Commission.

“The Commission wishes to state unequivocally that such Notice of Election did not emanate from LASIEC,” the statement read. It advised members of the public, especially political parties and other critical stakeholders, to disregard the fake publication.

LASIEC reaffirmed that the conduct of local government elections in Lagos State is strictly guided by law, and that at the appropriate time, an official notice of election will be published through recognized newspapers in accordance with legal provisions.
