Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has approved the release of an additional ₦200 million for the payment of gratuities to retired civil servants in the state.
The development was announced in a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti by the Permanent Secretary, Pension Transition Arrangement Department (PTAD), Mr. Francis Omotoso. According to him, the newly approved fund will cover gratuity payments for state government pensioners up to July 2015.
Omotoso described the gesture as a demonstration of Governor Oyebanji’s steadfast commitment to the welfare of retirees, adding that the move is a significant step towards clearing the backlog of outstanding entitlements inherited from previous administrations. He noted that the initiative is in line with the administration’s agenda of continuity and shared prosperity.
He also called on eligible pensioners to visit the PTAD Office at the Old Governor’s Office for documentation ahead of cheque collection.
Since assuming office in October 2022, the Oyebanji administration has reportedly disbursed over ₦7.2 billion in gratuities to retired state workers.
