The Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has congratulated the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ondo State Council, Prince Leke Adegbite, on his re-election for a second term.
Governor Aiyedatiwa extended his felicitations during the inauguration of the new NUJ leadership held on Wednesday in Akure. Represented by his Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the Governor applauded the peaceful and smooth transition that produced Adegbite’s return to office, describing it as a testament to the union’s internal democracy and professional values.
He also commended members of the union for their unity and maturity, which he said have continued to sustain the integrity of the NUJ in the state.
Governor Aiyedatiwa further appreciated the support and cooperation extended to his administration by the Ondo NUJ, assuring that the state government remains committed to strengthening its partnership with the media in the interest of good governance and responsible journalism.
He also congratulated Miss Precious Oluwole, a member of the Press Crew in the Governor’s Office and correspondent of TRACE News Magazine, on her emergence as the Assistant General Secretary of the union.
Representing the National President of the NUJ, Comrade Alhassan Yahaya, at the event, the Vice President of the South West Zone, Mrs. Aderonke Samo, praised members of the Ondo State Council for their dedication to journalistic excellence. She lauded the peaceful conduct of the election and commended the outgoing executive for their service.
In his acceptance speech, Prince Adegbite reaffirmed his commitment to the protection of journalists’ interests in the state. He also expressed appreciation to union leaders from neighbouring states who attended the inauguration and pledged to build on the achievements of the previous administration.
Other newly elected officials who were sworn in and presented with certificates of office include Mr. Meshach Olaoluwa as General Secretary, Mrs. Maria Famakinwa as Treasurer, and Miss Precious Oluwole as Assistant Secretary.
