2026: Osogbo To Produce Next Governorship | LAGOS EYE NEWS

The Osogbo Community Development Initiative (OCDI) has declared that the time has come for Osogbo Local Government to produce the next Governor of Osun State, come 2026.

In a statement released by the group and signed by its Chairman, Prince Adeniyi Fabode, OCDI emphasized that Osogbo the state capital and a long standing pillar in the political, economic, and cultural development of Osun has earned its rightful place to lead from the front.

“For decades, Osogbo has played a critical role in the unity and progress of Osun State,” the statement reads. “Our people have always prioritised the collective good of the state, often at the expense of local political ambition. Now, justice, fairness, and equity demand that the Osogbo Local Government be given the opportunity to lead the state.”

OCDI, however, made it clear that it isn’t calling for just any candidate from Osogbo, but one with the capacity to lead Osun into a new era of growth and inclusion.

To that end, the group expressed strong confidence in the leadership of Honourable Olalekan Badmus, describing him as a man of vision, character, and proven ability.

“Hon. Badmus has consistently demonstrated a commitment to good governance, human development, and the overall prosperity of the state. He has the temperament, experience, and people-management skills to steer Osun to the next phase of progress,” Fabode noted.

The group is now calling on political parties, traditional rulers, community stakeholders, and the general public to rally behind this vision and support a fair and balanced path to leadership.

“Let Osogbo lead not just for Osogbo’s sake, but for the good of Osun State as a whole,” the statement concluded.
