A wave of outrage swept through the Oke-Ado area of Ibadan on Monday as angry individuals stormed the local office of CBEX, a digital trading platform, looting furniture and other valuables in the wake of the platform’s sudden crash.
The incident followed reports that the platform had allegedly gone offline, leaving users with zero balance in their accounts.
The development has sparked panic among investors and traders who now fear their funds may be lost.
Eyewitnesses report that the enraged crowd forcefully entered the CBEX office, carting away items including desks, couches, and other office equipment.
A video making the rounds on social media shows the chaotic scene, with dozens seen looting the premises.
The platform’s crash has affected numerous users, many of whom are grappling with a mix of shock, anger, and despair over the potential loss of their investments.
Security authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the incident or the status of the CBEX platform as tensions continue to rise among affected investors.
