Eid-el-Kabir: LASTMA Assures Lagosians of Seamless Traffic Flow |LAGOS EYE NEWS

As Muslims around the world commemorate the spiritually significant festival of Eid-el-Kabir, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has extended heartfelt greetings to the global Muslim community, with special regards to the faithful in Lagos and across Nigeria.

Acknowledging the sacred essence of the festival marked by themes of devotion, sacrifice, and unity LASTMA expressed its commitment to ensuring a smooth and safe traffic experience during the festive period.

Speaking on the agency’s preparedness, the General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, assured the public of a well-coordinated traffic management strategy before, during, and after the celebrations.

He revealed that a comprehensive operational plan has been activated, involving the strategic deployment of traffic officers across key roads and high-traffic areas within the state.

“Our officers have been thoroughly mobilized and stationed at major traffic hotspots to ensure order and prevent disruptions,” Mr. Bakare-Oki said.

“They are equipped with modern traffic management tools, including towing vehicles and rapid response units, to swiftly address any vehicular breakdowns or obstructions.”Screenshot_2025_0529_120124 Eid-el-Kabir: LASTMA Assures Lagosians of Seamless Traffic Flow |LAGOS EYE NEWSThe General Manager also issued a stern warning to motorists—particularly commercial drivers—against common traffic violations such as indiscriminate parking, picking up or dropping off passengers at unauthorized spots, and driving against traffic (one-way).

He stated that violators would face strict penalties, including vehicle impoundment and prosecution at the Lagos State Mobile Court.

Mr. Bakare-Oki added that all frontline personnel have been equipped with necessary operational gear, including raincoats and safety boots, to ensure uninterrupted service delivery regardless of weather conditions.

He further urged all road users to demonstrate civic responsibility, adhere to traffic regulations, and show courtesy to fellow motorists.

“We appeal to all Lagosians to support our officers and comply with traffic rules to foster a safe, peaceful, and orderly environment that reflects the true spirit of Eid-el-Kabir,” he concluded.

LASTMA reiterated its unwavering commitment to proactive traffic management, public safety, and efficient service delivery throughout the festive season and beyond.
