The Oyo State Fire Services Agency, under the leadership of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Fire Service Reform and Chairman, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande, has successfully rescued a 68-year-old man who fell into a deep well while attempting to retrieve his lost mobile phone.
The incident occurred at Mobolorunduro Mosque in the Molefalafia area of Oke-Ado, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
According to the agency, the accident resulted from the man’s lack of awareness about the dangers of entering a well without proper training or equipment.
In an official statement issued in Ibadan, Hon. Akinwande confirmed the incident and emphasized that the man’s action stemmed from ignorance of the severe risks associated with such an attempt.
Fire personnel, led by Assistant Chief Fire Superintendent (ACFS) Mrs. Adedeji, were promptly dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, they discovered that the man was trapped in the deep well located within the mosque premises.
“The firemen swiftly swung into action, tying all necessary knots and observing strict safety protocols,” Hon. Akinwande stated. “The man was rescued alive and immediately handed over to his family for proper care.”
The Special Adviser further urged members of the public to refrain from engaging in potentially life-threatening actions and to always seek professional help in emergency situations.
