A 103-year-old woman has died after a fire swept through a residential building in the Oyingbo area of Lagos, emergency officials say.
The blaze broke out on Bola Street and is believed to have started in one room of the building before spreading rapidly to at least eight others, according to a preliminary report from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).
The fire also engulfed six nearby shops, destroying goods and property estimated to be worth millions of naira.
The cause of the incident has not yet been established.
Emergency responders from LASEMA, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the Nigerian police and other agencies were deployed to the scene and succeeded in bringing the fire under control.
