The Ondo State Government has declared Monday, February 2, and Tuesday, February 3, 2026, as public holidays to mark the 50th anniversary of the creation of the state.
The approval was granted by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa to enable residents to fully participate in activities lined up for the golden jubilee celebrations of the state.
According to a statement issued on Friday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the anniversary marks five decades of growth, resilience and collective progress since the creation of Ondo State.
Governor Aiyedatiwa urged citizens to take advantage of the holidays to actively engage in the celebrations, reflect on the journey of the state so far and renew their commitment to the shared vision of building a more prosperous and united Ondo State.
The governor, however, directed providers of essential services to put in place adequate arrangements to ensure uninterrupted services throughout the holiday period.
Ondo State was created on February 3, 1976, and the 2026 celebrations mark its 50th year of existence.
