The Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB) has approved the appointment of three new education secretaries for Agege, Ikorodu and Alimosho Local Government Education Authorities, in a move aimed at strengthening grassroots education administration.
The decision was ratified during the board’s second statutory meeting of the year, held at LASUBEB headquarters.
LASUBEB Executive Chairman, Dr Hakeem Shittu, said the appointments were part of efforts to improve administrative efficiency, enhance school supervision and ensure effective implementation of government education policies at the local level.
He said strong leadership within local education authorities was essential to delivering quality basic education, particularly as the state government continues to integrate technology into the sector under its T.H.E.M.E.S+ development agenda.
One of the appointees, Mr Taiwo Odumbo Abiodun, who will serve as Education Secretary for Ikorodu, said education secretaries play a key role in providing professional leadership and coordinating educational activities across public primary schools.
He added that they are also responsible for ensuring compliance with approved standards and guidelines.
The newly appointed officials are Mr Taiwo Odumbo Abiodun (Ikorodu), Dr Aminat Olawunmi Ige (Alimosho), and Mrs Janat Bashorun-Olokodana (Agege).
The appointments take immediate effect.
