The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of its newly elected Assistant Publicity Secretary, Karamo Yesiro, just hours before his scheduled swearing-in.
Yesiro was re-elected during the party’s state congress held at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium in Onikan. He died barely a day after securing the position.
The late party official was expected to be inaugurated alongside other newly elected state executives of the APC at the party’s secretariat on Thursday, March 5, 2026.
In a statement, Lagos APC Publicity Secretary, Seye Oladejo, described the development as a “painful and tragic loss,” noting that Yesiro’s death came at a time when his commitment and energy were most needed by the party.
Oladejo said the late chieftain had just been entrusted with a new responsibility as a member of the party’s State Executive Council and was widely known for his dedication and loyalty to the progressive cause.
“His enthusiasm, humility and readiness to serve left a lasting impression on colleagues and members alike,” the statement said. “He was a vibrant party man whose contributions to the growth and stability of the APC in Lagos State will not be forgotten.”
Party leaders and members across Lagos have since expressed shock over the sudden development, with condolence messages pouring in from political associates and supporters.
The Lagos APC leadership extended its sympathies to the family, friends and political associates of the late Yesiro, praying for the strength to bear the loss.
