The Lagos State Ministry of Transportation has raised alarm over the activities of fraudulent individuals issuing fake vehicle documents to unsuspecting motorists across the state.
In a statement, the Ministry disclosed that some unscrupulous agents are producing counterfeit documents, including Roadworthiness Certificates and other vehicle particulars, in violation of established procedures.
The Ministry strongly condemned the practice, stressing that vehicle documentation remains a statutory responsibility handled exclusively by duly authorised agencies under its supervision.
It warned that any document obtained outside official channels is invalid and constitutes a serious offence.
The statement advised motorists to refrain from patronising unauthorised individuals or groups for vehicle documentation, noting that such actions not only compromised public safety but could also result in legal consequences.
The Ministry further assured residents that enforcement operations have been intensified in collaboration with security agencies to track down and apprehend those involved in the illegal activities.
It added that anyone found culpable would face the full weight of the law.
Members of the public were also urged to verify the authenticity of service providers before engaging them and to report suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
