Man, 38, arraigned for allegedly stealing property worth N2.4m |LAGOS EYE NEWS



A 38-year-old man, Livinus Aham, on Tuesday appeared before an Ejigbo Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing property worth N2.4 million.

Aham, whose residential address was not provided, is standing trial on a three-count charge of conspiracy, breaking, and stealing.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, ASP Benedict Aigbokhan, told the court that the defendant, an employee of Ocean Crest Technologies Ltd., committed the offences on or before May 26, at No. 165, Akowonjo Road by Cele Bus-stop.

He said that the defendant and others at large, broke into an office and allegedly stole an HP laptop valued N500,000, ladies bags valued N446,000, varieties of perfume valued N1,500,000, belonging to Ocean Crest Technologies Ltd.

Aigbokhan said that the offences contravened Sections 411, 309 (1) (2), 287(7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria 2015.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 411 prescribes two years imprisonment for conspiracy, Section 309(1)(2) prescribes seven years imprisonment for breaking, Section 287(7) prescribes seven years imprisonment for stealing.

The Magistrate, Mrs K.A Dosumu, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two responsible sureties.

She adjourned the case until July 1, for mention.
