Former Miss SA Finalist Chidimma Adetshina Faces Possible Deportation from South Africa |LAGOS EYE NEWS

Former Miss South Africa finalist and Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidimma Adetshina, is facing possible deportation after South African authorities alleged that she and her minor son are residing in the country without legal immigration status.

According to South Africa’s Department of Home Affairs, immigration officials located Adetshina in Cape Town and found that she was allegedly living in the country illegally. Authorities have initiated legal proceedings aimed at her deportation, with court documents indicating that she was arrested earlier this month and later released on warning pending further court appearances.

The latest development follows a citizenship controversy that erupted in 2024 when Adetshina withdrew from the Miss South Africa pageant after questions were raised over her eligibility. An investigation by the Department of Home Affairs alleged that her mother’s South African identity documents may have been obtained fraudulently, leading to the revocation of their identification documents and passports.

After exiting the Miss South Africa competition, Adetshina accepted an invitation to compete in Miss Universe Nigeria, where she won the national title. She went on to finish as first runner-up at the Miss Universe pageant and was crowned Miss Universe Africa and Oceania.

South African media reported that the Department of Home Affairs considers Adetshina a prohibited person under the country’s Immigration Act and is pursuing her removal from South Africa through the courts.
