Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has declared that his team is ready to challenge for the Premier League title next season after securing a third-place finish and qualification for the UEFA Champions League.
In a message to the club’s supporters on Tuesday ahead of the new campaign, Carrick expressed gratitude for the fans’ unwavering support, describing them as a key factor in the team’s progress last season.
“I want to start by thanking you from the bottom of my heart for your incredible support throughout last season. As a club, we moved forward together, and you played an essential role in enabling the team to finish third in the Premier League and qualify for the Champions League,” Carrick said.
The United boss, who has served the club as a player, coach, supporter, season ticket holder, and now manager, said he fully understands the significance of representing Manchester United and stressed that the players have embraced the responsibility that comes with wearing the club’s colours.
Carrick highlighted the team’s impressive performances against top opposition, including victories over Liverpool, Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa, Everton, and Chelsea, noting that the squad demonstrated both attacking quality and resilience throughout the campaign.
According to him, the players maintained their focus even after sealing Champions League qualification, a mentality he believes will be crucial in the upcoming season.
While acknowledging that expectations at Manchester United remain high, Carrick insisted that the team is prepared to meet those demands.
“We know we must continue to improve. We have a huge responsibility to win and to play exciting football. That will never change, and we must always fight for the biggest trophies,” he said.
Carrick expressed confidence in the quality, commitment, and determination of his squad, adding that the players are fully committed to the club’s vision.
“We know we have what it takes to beat the best teams in this league. Now it’s about doing it over a full Premier League season while fighting for every trophy within reach,” he added.
The United manager also said he is looking forward to welcoming Champions League football back to Old Trafford and promised supporters that the team is ready to produce even greater moments in the new season.
“We are ready to step it up and deliver even more of those great moments that are the very essence of United,” Carrick concluded.
