President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Team Nigeria on its impressive performance at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, commending the athletes for their resilience, determination, discipline and excellence.
In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised the athletes for representing Nigeria with dignity and pride throughout the competition.
Tinubu described the country’s haul of 24 medals 10 gold, seven silver and seven bronze as a reflection of the athletes’ hard work, perseverance and commitment to excellence.
He noted that the experience gained by the athletes at the Games would serve as a solid foundation for greater achievements in future international competitions, while inspiring young Nigerians to embrace the values of dedication, discipline and national service.
The President also commended the leadership of the Nigeria Olympic Committee and the National Sports Commission for their continued efforts in promoting sports development and supporting Nigerian athletes.
He urged Team Nigeria to remain focused and continue striving for excellence, assuring them of his administration’s commitment to advancing sports development across the country.
Tinubu reaffirmed that the Federal Government would continue to invest in sports, strengthen sporting institutions, improve training facilities and create more opportunities for talented athletes to compete successfully on both continental and global stages.
