Lagos State environmental officials have uncovered an illegal makeshift clinic operating from a roadside shanty along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
The discovery was made around Barracks Bus Stop during a multi-agency operation to clear illegal structures and shanties along the major highway.
Officials from the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Lagos State Task Force and other enforcement agencies took part in the operation.
LAGESC said the team, led by its Corps Marshal, Major Olaniyi O. Cole (retd), found what appeared to be a clinic inside one of the structures.
A patient, identified as Aminu, was reportedly receiving treatment through an intravenous drip when officials arrived.
A video obtained by local media showed the patient being brought out of the makeshift facility.
Following the discovery, officials ordered the patient’s immediate removal before the shanty clinic was dismantled.
LAGESC said the operation formed part of an ongoing multi-agency enforcement exercise along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
The Corps Marshal expressed concern over the discovery and urged residents to avoid seeking treatment at unregulated medical facilities, particularly those operating from makeshift structures without proper approval.
