Nigeria’s Ministry of Interior has dismissed as fake a press release circulating on social media and messaging platforms claiming that the ongoing recruitment exercise of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) had been postponed until after the 2027 general election.
The document, dated 11 August 2026 and titled “CDCFIB Recruitment Update”, was purportedly issued by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
In a statement signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr Magdalene Ajani, officials said the document did not originate from the ministry, the minister’s office or the CDCFIB.
The ministry described the statement as “fake, unauthorised and fraudulent”, stressing that Mr Tunji-Ojo neither signed nor issued it.
It also said no decision had been taken to defer the recruitment exercise until after the 2027 elections.
“The exercise is ongoing,” the ministry said.
Applicants and members of the public have been urged to ignore the circulating document and obtain information only from the ministry’s verified communication channels and those of the CDCFIB.
The ministry also directed applicants to rely on the official recruitment portal, cdcfib.gov.ng, for updates on the exercise.
