Operatives of the Kaduna State Police Command have rescued 75 persons abducted by bandits in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area.

The victims, comprising men, women, and children, were traveling in commercial buses when they were intercepted by gunmen at Folwaya Village, near Birnin Gwari. According to the police, the attackers were armed with AK-47 rifles and other sophisticated weapons.

The Command, in a statement, disclosed it received credible information from the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Birnin Gwari Branch, that the victims had been taken into the forest and hidden in a cave within a mountainous area.

A crack team from the Birnin Gwari Area Command was immediately deployed to the location. On sighting the well-armed operatives, the abductors fled, abandoning their captives. All 75 victims were rescued unharmed.

The Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command, CP Rabiu Muhammad, commended the NURTW for providing timely information. He also applauded the Area Commander and his team for their swift and professional response.

CP Muhammad urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements to the police. He also cautioned against jungle justice, warning that such actions could lead to the loss of innocent lives.
