APC Constitutes Presidential Campaign Council, Names Yari DG, Uzodimma Secretary |LAGOS EYE NEWS




The All Progressives Congress (APC) has constituted its Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the January 2027 elections, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima named chairman and vice chairman respectively.

According to the list released on Saturday, by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, will serve as vice chairman, while former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, has been appointed Director-General of the campaign.

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, will serve as secretary, while APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, and Hadiza Bala-Usman were named deputy and assistant secretaries respectively.

President Tinubu will be supported by a council of advisers comprising former APC National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande; veteran politician, Chief Segun Osoba; Senator Rochas Okorocha; former APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu; and Senator Florence Ita-Giwa.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni were appointed deputy directors-general for the southern and northern zones. They will work alongside Senator Opeyemi Bamidele and Deputy Senate President Jibril Barau.

Senator Adams Oshiomhole will oversee mobilisation as deputy director-general, while the President’s Chief of Staff will serve as deputy director-general for administration.

James Abiodun Faleke, who played a prominent role in the APC’s 2022/2023 presidential campaign, returns as deputy director-general for election planning, coordination and monitoring.

Faleke will work with zonal directors, including Senator Olushola Adeyeye for the South-West, Dr Ngozi Olejeme for the South-South, Senator Uche Ekwunife for the South-East, Muntaqha Rabe for the North-West, Ahmed Muhammed Ketso for the North-Central and Senator Sani Danladi for the North-East.

Stella Okotete, Engineer Abdullahi Garba Ramat and Audu Maikori were appointed secretaries of the election planning directorate.

Muiz Adeyemi Banire will head the legal directorate as director, with Dr Liman Hassan and Babatunde Ogala as deputies. Other members include Prince Lateef Fagbemi, former Katsina State Governor Ibrahim Shema, Worgu Boms and Dr Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh.

Media and Strategic Communication

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi, will serve as coordinating director for media and strategic communication.

He will work with Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu, who were appointed alongside other coordinating deputy directors, including Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala and Felix Morka.

Abdulaziz AbdulAziz, Temitope Ajayi, Arabinrin Aderonke and Frederick Nwabufor will serve as coordinating secretaries of the media directorate.

Segun Dada returns as Director of New Media, the same position he held during the 2022/2023 campaign, while Solomon Arowolo will serve as secretary of the New Media directorate.

The campaign council also named five spokespersons, led by Dele Alake. Others are Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda.

Tinubu Charges Campaign Council to Deliver Victory

President Tinubu charged members of the campaign council to work tirelessly towards securing victory for the APC in the January 2027 elections.

He also urged leaders of the various directorates to reach out to other party members who were not formally listed but could contribute to the campaign.

The President said the administration had delivered on its campaign promises and placed Nigeria on a path of economic progress.

“We have delivered on our campaign promises and set our country on a path of economic progress. We are definitely out of the dark tunnel and are now at the cusp of reaping the benefits of a prosperous economy that will benefit all Nigerians,” Tinubu said.

He urged the campaign team to highlight the administration’s achievements and present its record to voters across the country.

“As we march into the campaign season, we have many achievements to trumpet—let us confidently showcase our record and inspire hope in every corner of our nation. Let us soundly defeat all those forces who plan to take our country backwards,” he added.
