Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has reportedly died after battling cancer.

News of the actor’s reported death emerged on Saturday through Sebilu Nnajat, an Islamic television programme page associated with Islamic cleric Sheikh Hammad Alfulanyy.

The platform announced the reported death in a post mourning the actor and praying for the repose of his soul.

“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. At last Ogogo is gone. May Allah grant him Jannatul Firdaus,” the post said.

The report came hours after Ogogo’s daughter, Kira Taiwo, raised concerns about alleged attempts by some individuals to exploit her father’s health crisis to solicit money from members of the public.

The actor had reportedly been battling stage-four cancer, prompting his daughters, Kira and Lima Taiwo, to appeal for urgent medical assistance.

His illness had generated concern across Nigeria’s entertainment industry, with colleagues, fans and well-wishers rallying around the actor and his family.

Meanwhile, the Ilaro Muslim Community has announced burial arrangements for Alhaji Hassan Taiwo.

According to the announcement, the funeral prayer is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground in Ilaro.

The Chief Imam of Ilaro invited family members, friends, well-wishers and members of the public to attend the prayer and pay their final respects.

The announcement began with the Islamic phrase, “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un”, which means, “Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we shall return.”

The community also expressed condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the deceased and for strength for those mourning him.

Earlier, Kira had spoken about the support the family received during her father’s illness.

During a live session, she said veteran actor Yinka Quadri had remained closely involved in Ogogo’s care and had regularly checked on his condition.

“I’m not sure Daddy Yinka Quadri is also okay, because he has been on the phone with us every moment. He’s always on call and following up on everything with my uncle,” she said.

Quadri’s involvement, according to Kira, highlighted the long-standing relationship between the two veteran actors.

However, at the time of publication, Ogogo’s reported death had not been independently confirmed by an official statement from his immediate family or management.
