Nigeria’s newly appointed Ambassador to Sudan, Yakubu Nyaku Danladi, has formally presented his letters of credence to Sudan’s Transitional Sovereign Council Chairman, General Abdalfattah Al-Burhan Abdalrahman.
The ceremony was held at the Republican Palace in Khartoum and was followed by bilateral discussions between Danladi and the Sudanese leader.
During the meeting, the Nigerian envoy reaffirmed Abuja’s commitment to strengthening its longstanding friendship and diplomatic relations with Sudan.
Danladi also reiterated Nigeria’s support for Sudan’s peace, stability and sovereignty, while advocating an inclusive national dialogue as a pathway towards ending the ongoing conflict in the country.
The ambassador pledged to deepen bilateral cooperation in key sectors, including trade, investment, education, culture, security and people-to-people relations.
He also appealed to the Sudanese authorities to continue protecting Nigerians residing in the country and ensuring their safe passage, emphasising Nigeria’s concern for the safety and wellbeing of its citizens.
The presentation of credentials came after Danladi had earlier submitted copies of his letters of credence to Sudan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Mohieldin Salim Ahmed Ibrahim, in Khartoum.
Nigeria and Sudan have maintained longstanding historical, economic and cultural ties. Danladi is expected to build on these relations, advance Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives and promote stronger cooperation between both countries.
