Iran Strikes US Military Targets in Middle East After American Attack |LAGOS EYE NEWS

Iran has attacked United States military targets in the Middle East in retaliation for American strikes on an Iranian-controlled island in the Strait of Hormuz, marking the first direct exchange of fire between the two sides in about a month.

The latest escalation comes six months into the conflict, with Iran and the United States still locked in a standoff over the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, a major global shipping route.

Iran has continued to keep the strait closed, while Washington has maintained a naval counter-blockade aimed at restricting Tehran’s ability to move goods and resources through the region.

The United States had previously signalled a shift away from direct military action towards increased economic pressure on Iran.

However, Washington said on Sunday that its forces had targeted Iranian rocket launchers in an operation aimed at preventing Tehran from laying mines in the strategic shipping lane.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps subsequently said it had retaliated by launching ballistic missiles at two US military bases in Jordan.
