The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested and paraded more than 13 suspects over alleged involvement in cable vandalism, armed robbery, car theft, human trafficking and other crimes across several states.
The arrests were made by the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad (CG’s SIS) during intelligence-driven operations conducted across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nasarawa, Plateau, Kogi, Benue, Niger and Kaduna states.
The NSCDC National Public Relations Officer, Assistant Commandant Babawale Afolabi, disclosed this during a press parade at the Corps’ National Headquarters in Abuja and at a crime scene in Yangoji, Kwali Area Council of the FCT.
One of the major breakthroughs involved the arrest of 25-year-old Isaac Zegbe, a former employee of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), over the alleged vandalism of more than 15 kilometres of aluminium conductors between Yangoji and Abaji.
According to the Corps, the vandalised cables were valued at more than N350 million and were allegedly distributed to suspected marketers across various markets in the FCT.
Following a targeted sting operation, NSCDC operatives recovered a substantial quantity of vandalised electrical cables at Gudu Market and arrested suspected receivers, including Chijoke Christian, who allegedly confessed to knowingly purchasing stolen cables.
The Corps said it had obtained a court order to seal the shops of merchants linked to the purchase and distribution of the stolen aluminium conductors.
In another operation, the CG’s SIS dismantled a four-man syndicate allegedly specialising in the theft of Toyota vehicles across the FCT and neighbouring states.
The suspects were identified as Adamu Yusuf, Hassan Bukar, Adamu Musa, also known as “Yellow”, and Abdulsalam Isa, alias “Kada”.
NSCDC operatives also arrested four suspected members of an armed robbery gang identified as Nuhu Ndam, Ponbin Lamkur, Yilcwat Sohdan and Ganpyal Dul.
One AK-47 rifle with serial number 3152097, 16 rounds of 7.62x39mm live ammunition and N70,000 cash were recovered from the suspects.
Meanwhile, the Corps said its investigation into a human trafficking case led to the recovery of Micaiah Nana, the last of 16 children allegedly trafficked by Archibong Anderson on January 15, 2026.
The NSCDC said those who allegedly purchased the child had been detained and were assisting investigators with the ongoing investigation.
Other suspects arrested in separate operations include Bilyaminu Musa and Abba Yusuf, who were allegedly involved in power cable vandalism within Abuja city centre.
Another suspect, Theophilus Oche Oboii, was arrested over the alleged theft of 15 tractor batteries belonging to the National Agricultural Seeds Council in Kwali.
The batteries were reportedly sold for N20,000 each.
Items recovered during the operations included a stolen Toyota Camry with registration number YAB 163 EE, cut armoured electrical cables, 15 tractor batteries, master keys, cutting tools, knives and a stolen travel bag containing clothing.
The NSCDC said the operations formed part of its ongoing efforts to protect Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) and combat organised crime.
Afolabi assured Nigerians that the Corps would continue to deny criminal elements safe havens, adding that all suspects would be charged to court after investigations are concluded and a prima facie case established.
