The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), My Father’s House, Salford, Manchester, United Kingdom, in partnership with the Lagos Province 122 Evangelistic Outreach Department, has spent more than ₦7 million to support indigent and vulnerable Nigerians across Lagos and Ogun states.
The three-day outreach, led by the Pastor in Charge of RCCG His Majesty Chapel under Lagos Province 122, Pastor Tope Farotika, provided financial and material assistance to people in hospitals, schools, correctional facilities and orphanages, while also sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Speaking on behalf of RCCG My Father’s House, Salford, Farotika said the evangelism team had visited several institutions as part of efforts to demonstrate the love of Christ through practical support for people in need.
According to him, the team visited a school for the deaf, where it paid the school fees of 15 indigent students and provided partial fee support to other students.
He said about ₦2.5 million was spent on the education intervention.
The team also visited Jamido Orphanage Homes in Ota, Ogun State, where it donated food items, including bags of rice and beans, an industrial cooker and other essential supplies.
Farotika said the team also paid the university school fees of an orphan who had secured admission but was unable to afford the required fees.
At Orile-Agege General Hospital, Ilepo, the team settled various bills for 10 patients, including discharged patients who had been unable to leave the hospital because of unpaid bills and others whose families could not afford their medical treatment.
He added that the outreach also provided assistance to babies receiving intensive care and those in incubators, as well as malnourished children who required food and medical attention.
The team later visited the Female Correctional Centre, Kirikiri, Lagos where it donated various items and prepared meals, including protein-rich food, for inmates.
Farotika said the entire three-day intervention cost more than ₦7 million, describing it as an expression of Christian social responsibility and the church’s commitment to caring for vulnerable members of society.
He said some beneficiaries experienced immediate relief, particularly hospital patients who had spent weeks unable to leave the facility because they could not settle their bills.
“Many people who were crying before we got there had their tears wiped away by the love of Jesus Christ,” Farotika said.
He explained that the initiative was inspired by biblical teachings on caring for the sick, prisoners, orphans and other vulnerable people.
Farotika expressed appreciation to members of RCCG My Father’s House, Salford, Manchester, for their financial contributions and sacrifices towards the success of the outreach.
He also prayed for continued strength for the church and the Lagos Province 122 Evangelistic Outreach Team to sustain the initiative and extend its reach to more people in need.
Farotika added that the initiative was also inspired by the biblical instructions and guidance of the General Overseer of RCCG, Pastor E.A. Adeboye, to care for people in need.
