The Nigeria Police Force, in collaboration with sister security agencies, has rescued 20 prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members who were abducted in Imo State on October 1, 2026.
In a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, on Wednesday at the Force Headquarters, Abuja said the victims were rescued on Wednesday, October 7, at Amakohia Ubi Village, Imo State, following sustained search-and-rescue operations by security agencies.
According to the Police, the rescued prospective corps members have been taken for medical assessment and necessary care.
The Force said efforts were ongoing to apprehend those responsible for the abduction, adding that coordinated operations by the Police and other security agencies would continue until all persons found culpable are brought to justice.
The Nigeria Police Force expressed appreciation to members of the public for their cooperation and support during the rescue efforts.
The Force also reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, responding promptly to security threats and strengthening collaboration with sister security agencies.
