A tanker carrying 33,000 litres of groundnut oil has overturned near Abiola Garden, inward Toll Gate, while a broken-down truck has caused traffic congestion along the Ojota inward Maryland carriageway in Lagos.
The tanker crash resulted in the spillage of its contents onto the road, prompting recovery operations and the cordoning off of the affected section to ensure public safety.
No casualties were recorded in the incident, but traffic remained heavy in the area as recovery operations continued.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) said its officers, alongside other relevant agencies, were on the ground coordinating efforts to manage traffic and ensure the safe recovery of the overturned tanker.
In a separate incident, an empty LPG MAN diesel truck developed a mechanical fault and obstructed a lane on the main carriageway at Ojota, inward Maryland.
The breakdown caused a traffic backlog stretching towards Ojota Bridge, disrupting vehicular movement along the busy corridor.
LASTMA said a tow truck had been contacted to evacuate the broken-down vehicle, while its personnel were deployed to manage traffic and minimise delays.
LAGOS EYE NEWS report that the safety measures were also put in place behind the truck to prevent secondary accidents, with traffic officials strategically positioned to regulate vehicular movement and ease congestion.
Motorists were advised to exercise caution and patience when approaching both locations as recovery and traffic management operations continued.
