Nigerian gospel music ministers Tope Alabi and Bidemi Olaoba have expressed grief over the reported death of fellow gospel singer Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, as an eyewitness account circulating on social media raises questions about the circumstances surrounding his final hours.
Alabi, in a tribute to the late singer, described his death as a major shock, saying she was struggling to come to terms with the loss.
“This is such a big shock! I still can’t wrap my head around this. It hurts, but I will not sorrow as those who have no hope,” she wrote.
The gospel singer said she found comfort in the belief that the deceased had joined the angels, praying for God to comfort and strengthen his family, friends and colleagues.
“Toluwanisings, rest on, dear one, in the bosom of your Lord. You will forever be remembered,” she added.
Similarly, Bidemi Olaoba expressed his grief in a faith-filled message, reaffirming his trust in God despite the painful loss.
“Lord, we judge You faithful, even in moments like this when words fail us and our hearts are heavy,” he wrote.
Olaoba added that although the circumstances were difficult to understand, he remained committed to trusting in God’s unfailing love.
“Even when we do not understand, we choose to trust You. Even through the tears, we hold on to Your unfailing love,” he stated.
Also, Christian comedian Ayo Ajewole, popularly known as Woli Agba, mourned gospel singer Toluwanisings, describing his death as a surprise saying they surrendered to God’s will, even through their tears
His words: “Ah, Toluwanisings… 💔🕊️He is still so young, in his prime! The hope of many lives. The shoulder that so many people lean on. We called on him, but he could no longer answer us. ”
“Ah! I cannot find a better way to explain the difference between sleep and death. He looks just as though he is sleeping. Chei! We truly underestimate the gift of breath. The body is just a structure; it is the breath of life that makes all the difference.”
“That voice is gone! The husband of that young sister… Hmmmm, Kabiyesi Ọlọ́run! 😭 Father, we may not understand Your plans, but we trust in Your sovereignty over the many souls Your son has fed, encouraged, and blessed through his life and ministry, especially his beloved wife, his children, and his loyal band members.”
“We surrender to Your will, even through our tears. He was Yours, Lord, and You have called him home to rest. Please uphold everyone he has left behind. Comfort his wife, strengthen his children, and give his band members, friends, and all who loved him the grace to bear this painful loss. To God be the glory, even in our grief. 🙏🏽
Bayonle… Hmmmm, Toluwanisings! 💔🕊️ Rest in peace, dear brother. Keep singing with the angels. 😭🕊️
Sing with the Angels, bro 🎤, he concluded.
Meanwhile, an individual identified on social media as Enny has alleged that Toluwanisings was rushed to a hospital in Ibadan on Thursday morning but was turned away.
According to the account, Enny had taken his wife to the same hospital for antenatal care when he reportedly saw gospel singer BBO, Dele Omo Woli Agba and another person whose identity he did not immediately recognise rushing out of a vehicle.
Enny claimed that it was several hours later that he learnt the unidentified person was Toluwanisings.
The account further attributed to members of the late singer’s crew the claim that he slumped after performing at Bidemi Olaoba’s concert on Wednesday night.
Recall that Toluwanisings, widely known for his energetic Yoruba and English gospel praise medleys, celebrated his fifth wedding anniversary with his wife on September 25, 2026.
