Donations to support three-year-old American football prodigy Nevada Pierre’s soccer development have surged following a controversy at a youth football match in Florida, attracting support from people across the world.
Nevada’s fundraising campaign gained widespread attention after he was reportedly removed from a youth soccer game in Winter Park, Florida, on October 24, 2026, following a dispute involving his parents and league officials.
The campaign, organised by his mother, Martasia Griffin, aims to provide funds for registration, coaching, equipment, uniforms, travel and other opportunities to help the toddler continue developing his football skills.
The fundraising appeal has attracted tens of thousands of dollars in donations, with the amount continuing to change as more people learn about his story. However, reports of donations exceeding $30,000 within 24 hours could not be independently confirmed from the latest available figures.
Videos shared by Nevada’s family show the youngster dribbling past older children and scoring goals, sparking widespread debate about how young athletes with exceptional abilities should be supported in grassroots sports.
While his parents maintain that their son was excluded because of his football ability, a league official offered a different account, alleging that Nevada had pushed other players and that disagreements with his parents contributed to the incident.
The Winter Park Police Department said officers responded to a dispute between league officials and the child’s parents. According to the department, no one was arrested, trespassed or forced to leave the park.
The youth sports organisation, i9 Sports, subsequently said it had contacted the family and begun reviewing the incident.
Nevada’s story has since attracted support from public figures and generated fresh interest in his football development. Former United States international footballer Eddie Johnson has reportedly invited him to join a youth training programme in Orlando in January 2027.
Although social media posts have linked the youngster’s future to Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy, there is no independently confirmed evidence that he has received an official invitation or secured a training opportunity with the Spanish club.
The growing support has nevertheless offered Nevada’s family an opportunity to seek a more supportive environment for his development, ensuring that his passion for football continues beyond the controversy.
His story has also renewed conversations about nurturing young sporting talent, balancing competition with inclusion and allowing children to develop their abilities in age-appropriate and supportive settings.
