The Oyo State Police Command has brokered a peace agreement among family members, friends and associates of late singer Toluwanisings following disagreements surrounding his death and burial arrangements.
The agreement was reached at a meeting held on Tuesday, where the parties signed a peace undertaking before the Commissioner of Police.
Those involved in the dispute included the deceased’s wife, Mrs Olayemi Elizabeth Damilola; his father, Mr Muniru Olayemi; and his friends and associates, Oyindamola Esther, Babadunni Gbolabo and Comrade Lawal Ademola Rafiu.
The deceased’s personal assistant and other representatives also participated in the meeting.
Under the agreement, the parties pledged to maintain peace, demonstrate good conduct and avoid actions capable of causing a breakdown of law and order.
They also agreed to discontinue public exchanges, interviews and discussions capable of escalating tensions over the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death and burial arrangements.
The undertaking further prohibits the parties from circulating information, allegations, narratives or publications concerning the dispute through social media, newspapers, radio, blogs and other communication platforms.
Similarly, the parties agreed not to use proxies, agents, associates or representatives to disseminate information or engage media organisations in promoting narratives capable of reigniting the disagreement.
They also undertook not to grant interviews or facilitate media engagements intended to further publicise the dispute.
As part of the resolution, all parties agreed to direct their respective associates and representatives to refrain from making, sponsoring, amplifying or circulating publications that could undermine the peace agreement.
The intervention is expected to prevent further public controversy and promote peaceful resolution of the disagreements surrounding the late singer’s burial arrangements.
