The Transmission Company of Nigeria – Benin Sub-Region has arrested a 24-year-old man over allegations of stealing cables and wires from the marshalling kiosks at its 330kV switchyard.
The suspect was allegedly caught in the act by one of the company’s security personnel during a routine security patrol.
He was thereafter handed over to the Critical National Assets and Infrastructure Unit of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
The suspect is currently in custody with possible prosecution once the investigation is complete.
TCN has praised its security personnel and the NSCDC for their vigilance, adding that it will always work to safeguard its critical national infrastructure.
It has urged host communities to keep a close eye on its infrastructure and report any suspicious activity to security authorities or nearest TCN office.
