The Lagos State Ministry of Transportation has intensified its enforcement operations to restore order and sanity across major highways, with a clean-up exercise leading to the impoundment of 78 commercial motorcycles (Okada)on Thursday.
The operation, which commenced at 1:00 p.m., covered several strategic locations including Aguda Carriageway, Sanya Bus Stop (Surulere), Mile 2 Oke Bridge, Berger Suya, Cele–Ijesha Axis, Festac Town, Festac 2nd Gate, and the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) frontage along the Oshodi–Apapa and Lagos–Badagry Expressways.
During the exercise, enforcement officers cleared street traders, illegal ticketing operators, unauthorized parkers, and other violators who were obstructing traffic and constituting environmental nuisances along restricted routes.
According to the Ministry, the 78 motorcycles were seized for operating on highways and restricted corridors, in violation of the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law of 2018. All impounded motorcycles, it added, will be forfeited to the State Government as provided by the law.
The Ministry vowed its commitment to sustained enforcement operations aimed at ensuring free traffic flow, improved public safety, and environmental discipline across Lagos.
