Tinubu Allies Warn Against ‘Surface-Level’ Loyalty |LAGOS EYE NEWS

…says symbols of support do not equal commitment to president’s ideology

A group aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has warned that public displays of loyalty, including wearing the president’s signature cap, do not amount to genuine commitment to his political ideology.

Comrade Bamidele Atoyebi, convener of the BAT Ideological Group, said true followership must be rooted in conviction, discipline and a clear understanding of the president’s political philosophy, rather than symbolism or public association.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Atoyebi argued that many individuals who claim allegiance to President Tinubu lack a firm grasp of his leadership journey, governing principles and ideological foundations.

He described such support as “surface-level”, saying it generates visibility without substance.

“True followership is not about appearances,” he said, stressing that meaningful political loyalty requires education and internalised values, not just branding.

Atoyebi added that the BAT Ideological Group was formed to bridge this gap, focusing on political orientation, leadership education and mentorship aimed at deepening understanding of the president’s ideology and approach to governance.
