The Polish Ambassador to Nigeria, Michał Cygan, has described Nigeria as a key stabilising force in West Africa, highlighting the contribution of the Nigerian Armed Forces particularly the Nigerian Air Force to counter-insurgency operations and regional security.
Mr Cygan made the remarks during a courtesy visit to the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, at the Nigerian Air Force Headquarters in Abuja, according to a statement from the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame.
The ambassador commended the professionalism and resilience of the Armed Forces and said Poland was interested in exploring practical areas of bilateral defence cooperation to support Nigeria’s security priorities.
He noted that Nigeria’s strategic position and sustained security engagements continued to play a significant role in promoting peace and stability across the region.
In response, Air Marshal Aneke emphasised the importance of strategic international partnerships in tackling modern and asymmetric security threats.
He said the Nigerian Air Force remained committed to working with friendly nations to improve operational effectiveness, build capacity and strengthen information sharing in support of national security objectives.
The Air Chief also reaffirmed the service’s openness to mutually beneficial partnerships aimed at enhancing counter-insurgency capabilities and contributing to regional and global security.
