Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has commissioned the Laderin–Prof. Wole Soyinka Train Station Road in Abeokuta, announced plans to inaugurate 20 additional roads as part of activities marking Ogun State’s 50th anniversary.
At the ceremony, the governor disclosed that work is progressing steadily on the Sagamu Interchange–Papalanto–Opele Road, a 100-kilometre east-west connector that will provide motorists with an alternative route, reduce congestion around Abeokuta, and open up new corridors for commerce and investment.
Governor Abiodun described the Prof. Wole Soyinka Train Station as a strategic transport hub linking Ogun to Lagos, Oyo State, and the northern region. He noted that the Laderin road was rehabilitated to support the state’s multimodal transport agenda and revealed that the project forms part of over 1,600 kilometres of roads constructed across Ogun State, alongside major works such as the Atan–Lusada–Agbara Road.
Community leaders and transport stakeholders commended the intervention, describing the road as a major boost to mobility, safety, and economic activities in Abeokuta and surrounding communities.
