Over 20 Feared Dead in Katsina Attack |LAGOS EYE NEWS

More than 20 people are feared to have been killed in an attack on Doma “A” community in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State, northern Nigeria.

The chairman of Faskari Local Government Council, Bala Ado, confirmed the incident in a telephone interview with ARISE News, saying several others were injured and more than 100 residents were forced to flee their homes.

Mr Ado said the assault lasted for almost three hours, beginning at around midday and continuing until about 3pm on Tuesday.

He added that burial arrangements for those who lost their lives are expected to take place on Wednesday.

Faskari is among a number of communities in the area that had previously entered into a peace agreement with armed groups, a development that had raised hopes of improved security.

The latest attack has renewed concerns about the durability of such agreements and the wider security situation in Katsina State’s southern senatorial district.
