BREAKING: Man City draw Real Madrid as Chelsea face PSG in Champions League last 16 |LAGOS EYE NEWS

Manchester City will renew their rivalry with Real Madrid in the Champions League last 16, while Chelsea have been handed a tie against holders Paris Saint-Germain.

City’s meeting with 15-time European champions Real Madrid marks the fifth consecutive season the two sides have faced each other in the knockout stages.

Chelsea could have drawn an all-English encounter against Newcastle United, but Eddie Howe’s side will instead take on Spanish champions Barcelona.

Premier League leaders Arsenal, who topped the league phase with a perfect record, will face German champions Bayer Leverkusen.

Six-time European Cup winners Liverpool have been drawn against Turkish side Galatasaray, while Tottenham Hotspur meet Atletico Madrid.

City, Liverpool and Chelsea find themselves on what appears to be the more demanding side of the draw.

If City overcome Real Madrid, they will face either Bayern Munich or Atalanta in the quarter-finals.

Chelsea and Liverpool could meet in the last eight should they progress past PSG and Galatasaray respectively.

Elsewhere, Arsenal will face either Bodo/Glimt or Sporting CP if they see off Leverkusen. A potential semi-final could pit Mikel Arteta’s side against Newcastle, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid or Tottenham.

The first legs of the last-16 ties will be played on 10 and 11 March, with the return fixtures scheduled for 17 and 18 March. The full match schedule is expected to be confirmed on Friday evening.
