FCC, PTAD strengthens collaboration on pension liabilities |LAGOS EYE NEWS

The Federal Character Commission (FCC) has reaffirmed its commitment to institutional collaboration and equitable service delivery following a strategic engagement with the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD).

The partnership aims to address outstanding pension liabilities involving both agencies, while deepening inter-agency cooperation, strengthening accountability mechanisms and improving nationwide service delivery to pensioners.

The Executive Chairman of the FCC, Mrs Ayo Omidiran, gave the assurance on Friday in Abuja while receiving a PTAD delegation at the commission’s headquarters.

In a statement by FCC spokesman, Mr Ademola Lawrence, Omidiran said safeguarding pensioners’ rights and dignity through transparent, accountable systems remained a priority.

She said: “The welfare of pensioners is not merely an administrative obligation; it is a moral responsibility.

“When retirees receive their entitlements promptly and fairly, it strengthens public confidence in governance and reinforces the principles of equity and justice.”

She commended the administration of President Bola Tinubu for prioritising reforms to address pension challenges and improve institutional efficiency.

According to her, efforts to resolve longstanding pension issues reflect a people-focused approach to governance and a commitment to sustainable public sector reforms.

Earlier, PTAD Executive Secretary, Mrs Tolulope Odunaiya said the directorate’s statutory mandate includes settling outstanding pension liabilities and administering pensions for retirees of defunct agencies.

Odunaiya added that PTAD also implements pension harmonisation measures to ensure uniformity and fairness in payments across affected categories.

“By strengthening collaboration with institutions such as the FCC, we can ensure efficient administration and that every eligible retiree receives their rightful entitlements without delay,” she said.
