Gas Supply Shortage Triggers Power Outages for Ikeja Electric Customers |LAGOS EYE NEWS

Customers of Ikeja Electric are currently experiencing widespread power outages following gas supply challenges affecting electricity generation on Nigeria’s National Grid.

In a statement issued on Friday, the electricity distribution company disclosed that inadequate gas supply to power generation companies had forced operators of the national grid to increase load shedding across several feeders within its network.

The company apologised to customers and business owners for the inconvenience caused by the unstable electricity supply, noting that the situation has disrupted business operations and daily activities in many communities within its coverage area.

“Ikeja Electric understands the inconvenience the current power supply challenges may be causing and sincerely apologises for the disruption,” the company stated.

The distribution company further explained that key stakeholders in Nigeria’s power sector are currently working to address the generation shortfall and stabilise the grid.

According to the statement, Ikeja Electric is closely monitoring the situation and will continue to provide updates to customers as improvements occur.

Power supply disruptions resulting from gas shortages and grid constraints have remained a persistent challenge in Nigeria’s electricity sector, often leading to periodic load shedding by distribution companies.
