Nigerian Baptist Convention Announces Idowu as President-Elect Nominee |LAGOS EYE NEWS

The Nigerian Baptist Convention has announced the nomination of Rev. Dr. David Olusola Idowu as its President-Elect, following the recommendation of the Convention’s Search Committee.

According to a statement issued by the Convention’s leadership, the committee, after what it described as a prayerful and diligent process, presented Rev. Dr. Idowu of Emmanuel Ajayi Dahunsi Memorial Baptist Church as the candidate to succeed the incumbent President, Rev. Dr. Israel Adelani Akanji.

The nomination is expected to be formally ratified during the 113th Annual Convention in Session, scheduled to take place on April 23, 2026, in Abuja.

The Convention expressed gratitude to God for what it described as divine guidance throughout the selection process, while also commending the leadership of Rev. Dr. Akanji. His tenure, the statement noted, has been characterized by stability, dedication, and spiritual growth within the Convention.

Looking ahead, the Convention said it remains optimistic about the future, expressing confidence that the incoming leadership will foster greater unity, advancement, and spiritual revival across its ranks.

Rev. Dr. Idowu has also been congratulated on his nomination, with prayers offered for wisdom, strength, and grace as he prepares for the responsibilities ahead.
