Bola Ahmed Tinubu has condemned the recent suicide bomb explosions in Maiduguri, describing the incident as deeply distressing and a desperate act by terrorist groups.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the President expressed grief over the loss of lives and extended sympathy to those injured, while standing in solidarity with residents of Borno State during what he called a difficult period.
Tinubu stated that the attacks were “final desperate and frantic attempts” by criminal and terrorist elements seeking to instill fear, noting that such groups are currently under sustained pressure from Nigeria’s armed forces and security agencies.
He assured Nigerians that the government would intensify ongoing operations against insurgents across the country. The President also commended the military for successfully repelling coordinated attacks on their positions in the state, praising their courage and resilience.
According to the statement, the Monday attacks were carried out by what he described as “evil-minded terrorist groups,” adding that both military personnel and civilian task forces remain committed to neutralizing the threat.
The President further disclosed that he had recently approved additional equipment and operational support for security agencies following a meeting with intelligence and security chiefs. He noted that the deployment of these resources is already underway.
As part of immediate measures, Tinubu directed security chiefs to relocate to Maiduguri to oversee operations firsthand. He also instructed emergency response agencies to ensure adequate medical care for those injured in the attacks.
Reaffirming his administration’s stance, Tinubu declared that terrorists would find no safe haven anywhere in Nigeria, vowing that security forces would track, confront, and ultimately defeat them.
He concluded by assuring citizens that the nation would not yield to fear in the face of terrorism.
