The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed the elimination of several terrorists following a foiled infiltration attempt in Malam Fatori, Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State.
According to the NAF, the operation was carried out in the early hours of Wednesday in close coordination with troops of the Nigerian Army. The joint effort successfully repelled the insurgents and neutralized multiple fighters attempting to infiltrate the area.
In a related development, the air component of Operation Hadin Kai conducted precision airstrikes on terrorist hideouts in Abirma, a known insurgent enclave located in the southern axis of the Lake Chad region of Borno State.
The strikes led to the destruction of several structures used by the terrorists, significantly disrupting their operations.
A statement issued by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Ehimen Ejodame, disclosed that the mission was based on credible intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance.
He noted that NAF air assets executed targeted strikes on identified locations, resulting in the destruction of key facilities and operational bases.
Preliminary battle damage assessments indicate that the airstrikes have substantially degraded the terrorists’ capacity to use the area as a staging ground for attacks across the Lake Chad Basin.
Meanwhile, the Chief of the Air Staff, Hassan Abubakar, reaffirmed the military’s commitment to sustained air operations across multiple theatres.
He assured Nigerians that efforts remain focused on protecting lives, safeguarding communities, and denying terrorist and criminal elements the freedom to operate anywhere within the country.
