Residents of Kaduna State has staged a solidarity rally in support of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai, coinciding with his arraignment at the Federal High Court in Kaduna.

The demonstrators marched through major streets before converging at the court premises, where the former governor was arraigned by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) over allegations of corruption.

During the protest, participants expressed dissatisfaction with what they described as the continued detention of El-Rufai, directing criticism at the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government.

Protesters chanted slogans such as “Free El-Rufai Now” and displayed placards bearing inscriptions including “Justice Delayed is Justice Denied.”

The crowd, made up of youths, elderly residents, men, and women, appeared visibly emotional, with some individuals seen in tears.

Community leaders and human rights advocates addressed the gathering, calling for the immediate release of the former governor and urging the judiciary to ensure fairness in the legal process.

Although the protest remained peaceful, it was marked by heightened tension. Security personnel were deployed to the area to maintain law and order.

The demonstrators vowed to sustain their action until their demands are met, urging the court to uphold justice and due process.
